What Happens in Vegas…

Hi everyone – I have just a quick update for you.

This past week, we were in Las Vegas attending the Army Navy Military Expo.  We went to the show mostly to find some new and unique military surplus items, and that we did.  It was a really good show for us, and we found some great stuff from around the world.

Over the next couple of months, we should be receiving the goods we ordered.  Look out for some unique Chinese military surplus, as well as surplus from various European countries and the United States!

Fall 2011 Fashion Trend – Capes

Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour Magazine and Front Row Magazine are among many magazines and websites to showcase the Cape as a trend for Fall 2011.

Burberry Cape – Fall 2011 – $1050.00
Cape – TopShop – $175.00

While most good quality capes, like the ones above, will cost you anywhere from $175 to more than $1000, we have some beautiful military issued ones that will put you on trend for the fall, without breaking the bank.

First is the Canadian Royal Military College cape, a black heavy wool cape, with a beautiful red satin lining.  The cape only costs $49.99.

The red lining is so vibrant.

The buttons also lend a nice element of detail.

Another cape we recently got in is a French military cape from the 1960s. It is a full length riding cape, made of heavy navy wool. It has ahoos, and nice silver coloured, metal buttons.

French Army Cape, 1960s - $119.99

A wool cape is a great way to keep warm during the chilly fall months into winter.  It is a look that is easy to achieve without breaking the bank!

Photo Shoot: What If Tomorrow

A couple of months ago, we were contacted by a representative from Halcyon Records. They wanted to do a post-apocalyptic/Mad Max-esque photo shoot using gear from us for promo material for one of their recently signed bands, What If Tomorrow.

WIT is from Niagara Falls, is made up of 6 guys:

  • Alex Kittelsen – Vocals
  • Connor Bamforth – Guitar
  • Rob Rossetto – Guitar
  • Eric Lanthier – Drums
  • Trevor Sawyer – Synth
  • Waylon Glintz – Bass

I am a huge fan and supporter of Canadian music, so I thought this would be a great idea and a great way for Save More to support local guys trying to make it big!  All the guys came into the store, and we set them up with some really awesome gear, including gas masks, shemaghs, scarves, jackets, vests and more.

The photo shoot went really well, and the pictures turned out amazing! Here’s one of them, and check out the full gallery after the jump!

To connect with the band, go to www.showmeyourWIT.com, follow them on Twitter @WITMusic, Like them at http://facebook.com/WhatIfTomorrow and stream their EP (which just dropped on June 28) on Halcyon’s Facebook page (you need to like them). The album is also available on iTunes and for digital download at halcyonrecords.ca!

Look like a Princess (or Duchess)

Princess / Duchess Kate / Catherine was by Prince / Duke William’s side in his first public event as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Irish Guards on Saturday, June 25. As always, she was dressed very well, in her typical effortless style.

UsMagazine.com posted the following on their website:

She was wearing a beautiful button down dress in navy blue that looked like it could be a coat.

We don’t carry dresses at Save More, but we do have many kinds of military coats that can give you the same chic utilitarian look.

What’s hot for men? Epaulettes

June 2011′s cover featured Alexander Skarsgard (Eric on True Blood) wearing a military-inspired button down shirt with epaulettes.
